From 2020 to end 2013, our managing partner, Carmen Mateas, held the position of Secretary General at Spain´s Wind Energy Association (Asociacion Empresarial Eolica, AEE) comprising over 200 companies along the whole value chain of the wind energy industry.
MATEAS ABOGADOS, law firm specializing in renewable energy and legal advice on renewable energy regulation, provided legal advice to the association´s governing bodies on: energy regulation (e.g. retroactive regulatory changes, EU Directives and their application, environmental taxes, etc), associations´ law (including the drafting of new by-laws), labor law, commercial law and competition law applied to associations.
MATEAS ABOGADOS, international law firm in renewable energy, successfully advised a private international investor in the energy field on a multimillion euro acquisition of several solar PV plants already in operation, helped to legally articulate the transaction and drafted the necessary contracts.
MATEAS ABOGADOS advised several EU producers of wind energy on contract negotiation and legal issues pertaining to the acquisition of wind energy turbines, and actually intervening in the negotiations amongst the clients, the manufacturer and the manufacturer´s exclusive sales agent for the country (we succeeded, as expert lawyers in renewable energy, in obtaining an acceptable deal for all parties concerned in the face of certain difficulties which arose during the negotiations).
MATEAS ABOGADOS, an international law firm offering expert legal services for the energy sector, analysed the compatibility of Spain´s energy regulations with EU law on behalf of several producers of RE.
MATEAS ABOGADOS, as part of its offering of legal services for renewable energy firms, successfully advised a biomass plant which needed to perform some essential technical modifications without losing the public aid which the plant had a right to receive. At the time, regulations governing the economic aid granted to RE installations were evolving towards a more restrictive and rather unpredictable scenario.
MATEAS ABOGADOS, as expert lawyers in renewable energy and the provision of legal services for the energy sector, obtained the necessary written and formal opinion of the competent authority, which granted our client the necessary legal security to perform the modifications while keeping this public aid. MATEAS ABOGADOS advised an EU association of RE producers on the existence of state aid in national electricity regulations.
